Snipeshow Tarn

This little tarn which is found in the most unlikely of hollows and surprisingly close to the busy A591, really has mastered the art of anonymity. There's no outflow to speak of, there's no footpath running next to the tarn and it isn't visible until you're quite close to it If all that wasn't enough; to make absolutely sure it remains undisturbed, during spells of dry weather it disappears altogether.

Anyone fortunate enough to visit while the tarn is full will be more than glad they made the effort. This is a charming place with a definite feel of seclusion, yet only 10 to 15 minutes walk from one of the busiest roads in the Lake District.
