Deepdale Hause
Even after all the time I've spent on the fells I find it hard to understand why certain places simply don't attract many visitors at all. It's quite understandable that there will always be the 'honey pots' which you'll find to be overcrowded almost everyday of the year. Then there are the middle of the scale areas where you never seem to have the place to yourself, but they rarely feel crowded. And then there are areas like Deepdale which you usually find deserted even on the most perfect days in the middle of summer.
I doubt it if this route was ever adopted as a regularly used link between Patterdale (I mean the valley) and Wythburn. The section between Deepdale Hause and Sleet Cove, and also the path by Raise Beck would stop this from being an easy route suitable for regular use. However, I have chosen to include this as a pass because it still offers a realistic crossing over the high eastern ridge. |
