Crummock Water seen across some of the many bluebells that cover most of the fellside along this part of the walk. With Low Fell in the distance and Mellbreak sloping down to the waters edge on the left. The little island is called Scale Island.

High Snockrigg and Robinson are the fells on the left of the picture, leading across to Dale Head, Honister Crag, Fleetwith Pike, Grey Knotts and Brandreth.

The lovely little valley of Mosedale. This is a very wet area indeed. There are good paths that follow the edge of the valley and these are usually quite dry, but once you try to take a short cut straight across you'll find it almost impossible to find a dry route.
The path I followed after descending from Hen Comb runs across the far end of the flat area.
The tree in the picture is marked on the OS map as Mosedale Holly Tree. I think it's the only "single" tree in the Lake District to be pointed out on the OS maps.
