A section of the ridge path between Nab Scar and Heron Pike. This picture was taken just before the cloud dropped even lower, which meant that most of today's walk was spent in the clouds.

Just past Heron Pike summit you come to another high point where you find this wall (to the right of the ridge path) which runs down to Erne Crag. We didn't follow the wall we just left the main path for a while and used it to get some shelter and to have a quick change into waterproofs, hats, gloves etc.

Fairfield summit was very cold, windy and damp today. After only a couple of minutes in the shelter there was a noticeable drop in the temperature. Not a place to hang around for long.

The last little bit of snow on the edge of the steep drop between Fairfield summit and Cawk Cove.

Our route took us around the right hand side of this picture and down to the point where the beck runs into the trees. The path on the left side of the beck is the route up to Alcock Tarn.

Some nice sunshine lighting up the area around the little ford we had to cross on the way down.

The last section of path before we joined the narrow lane which leads to the A591. The roof of the house on the right of the picture is same house shown in the next photo.

Just to the right of the picture is a gate leading onto the lane we followed down to the Swan Inn. The path on the opposite side of the beck is the route up to Alcock Tarn.
