Looking back towards Ullswater and Place Fell from the road to Greenside Mines. |

Just after taking the previous picture I left Greenside Road and headed up to The Rake. |

Glenridding, Ullswater and the valley through to Patterdale. |

And again. |
It may have been wet and muddy, but at least I wasn't walking up the edge of the fell anymore, where I was beginning to question the wisdom of walking up there in such a strong wind. In fact, it was having such an influence on me at this point that I didn't even bother taking the camera back out until I was well over the other side of the summit. |

Anyone who knows me would agree that I'm a long way from being an eight stone weakling, but this was such hard work I was struggling to keep moving. I must have been in a particularly bad place and walking as straight as you can possibly get into the wind because it actually felt like someone was trying to push me backwards. And as I intended to walk into Glencoyne anyway; I gave up fighting against the wind and ended up cutting the corner. |

Heading into Glencoyne to get some photos of the breached dam and the sheepfold next to the wall. |

Considering the amount of cloud there seemed to be everywhere else, I think I did pretty well today. As I lost height on this path down to Ullswater, the wind got calmer and the sun got warmer. |

It may not look it but the picture is actually level. |

Seldom Seen, now a row of holiday cottages, but originally built as cottages for the local miners. |

And now for an enjoyable walk back along Ullswater shore line to Glenridding. |
