Latrigg is a great little fell, and always a good one to keep up your sleeve for days when time, or the weather conspire against you. It's easy enough to get to the top, where the view down to Keswick, Derwent Water and the fells beyond is fantastic, and then, when you leave the summit the choices for a return journey are too numerous to list here.

Well girls, you can sit down for a while if you want, but if that rain heads this way I'm off.

I think we struck it lucky today with the weather. As we looked across from Latrigg there was just one shower after another moving over the lakes. Thankfully the only one that reached us came along as we got to one of the old railway buildings, so we managed to stay dry for the whole of the walk.

OK then we'll take a chance on staying dry and make the walk a little longer instead of heading straight back to Keswick.

I always enjoy walking in this area, particularly on walks like this one where I have no plans at all about where I'm wanting to go; a simple case of getting out there and walking. The whole route was made up of a succession of "where do you fancy going next" moments.
