No sooner had we arrived than the welcoming party came across to greet us. Thankfully they didn't think the wing mirrors were an added extra that we didn't really need.

Carrock Beck ford, from here we headed up to the left for the ascent of Carrock Fell.

"We've just been talking to one of your friends a bit further down the road"

What a fantastic place (I think it is anyway).

High Pike seen here from Carrock Fell.

Martin and Jennifer at Carrock Fell summit. The highest point on the left is Blancathra.

Heading across to High Pike, and despite the forecast predicting a much cooler day, jackets were removed and the warm conditions were enjoyed by us all.

A long distance view back to Carrock Fell, which looks much further away than it feels when you walk it.

Only 25 miles from home.

High Pike summit and a hazy view to the north.

A view back to High Pike, taken from the Cumbria Way track which we followed as far as Lingy Hut.

Inside Lingy Hut.

It looks like having something to eat is more important than saying cheeeeeese for the cameraman.

Almost down to valley level now, and I'd spent so much time taking photographs of sheepfolds and things that I'd been left way behind.

Looking back up the beck, curiously named Arm O Grain, to Lingy Hut, which can just be seen as a dot on the lower skyline.

This is the bridge over Grainsgill Beck, found close to the point where the road gives way to a muddy track which eventually leads to Skiddaw House.

The River Caldew in front of Coomb Height.

There may have been a long walk back along the road on this walk, but this really is a lovely area so the walk along here actually added to the enjoyment of the day rather than took away from it.

Daffodils in Mosedale.

Almost at the end of the walk now and what a gorgeous day it had turned into. If it's this nice in the middle of summer I'll be pleased.
