Heughscar Hill

To state the obvious, Heughscar Hill is named after the small rocky outcrop called Heugh Scar; found just north of the highest point.

This might not be everyone's idea of a great fell to walk on, but I've included it for two reasons, firstly because it's found on the edge of an area which I personally think is fantastic, and whatever you think of the fell itself, the view from the top is superb.

Route suggestions

Route suggestion: Askham - Riggingleys Top - Heughscar Hill
1.8 mile / approx 600 ft ascent
++++++++++++++++++++
Askham is a lovely village offering easy access to the Moor Divock area, the Loadpot Hill fells and in this case Heughscar Hill. Up hill all the way would describe this route, but it's still gentle enough to feel like a nice stroll out rather than a demanding fell walk.

A very easy to follow road / track leads you out of the village and onto the fellside. Once the track is left behind, simply head up to the tree line which will bring you out very close to the summit.

Route suggestion: Pooley Bridge - Roehead - Heughscar Hill
2 mile / approx 700 ft ascent
++++++++++++++++++++
I could have started this route at the end of the road at Roehead, but that would have made it a bit too short. Instead, I've began this route in Pooley Bridge. This is also a very easy route to follow, mostly on a road, then along a track and finally across the fellside to the top.
